Confirm the likely cause
A door that will not open is not always frozen. Look for ice at the bottom seal from a safe position. A broken spring or another hardware fault needs a different response.
Avoid force and shortcuts
Do not pry the door up, pull on the release to force it free or use an open flame. Do not pour boiling water onto the door or opening. If you cannot resolve an obvious surface obstruction safely, ask for help.
After the ice clears
Check the seal for tears and the surrounding area for standing water. Ask a technician about drainage and a damaged bottom seal. A door that remains uneven or difficult to move needs inspection.
Plan for the next cold spell
Keep accessible snow and ice away from the opening without reaching beneath the door. Follow the manufacturer guidance for seals and weather protection. A new opener is not the answer to a recurring frozen seal.
Make the service call easier
Note the opener model, describe what the door does and explain where it has stopped. Ask about coverage for your Leominster address, the visit fee and whether the provider will give a written estimate before work begins. You do not need to diagnose the failed part yourself.
Keep the provider's name and contact details with any quote or warranty. A recommendation to replace a part should come with a reason, not just a promise that a more expensive option will solve the problem.
