What changes the quote
Door size and weight, torsion versus extension springs, the number of springs and damaged related hardware can change the job. The provider also decides its labor and callout rates.
Compare the same scope
Ask whether the quote covers parts, labor, disposal, tax and the safety check. An advertised minimum may exclude items included in another estimate. Emergency or after-hours service may carry a separate charge.
Ask about the replacement specification
Get an explanation of why the proposed spring matches the door. If a higher-cycle option is offered, ask for its specification and the extra cost. A claimed lifespan is not a substitute for written product information.
Questions before you approve
Is this a fixed quote or an estimate? What happens if another damaged part is found? What warranty applies to the spring and the labor? Get those answers before authorizing the repair.
Make the service call easier
Note the opener model, describe what the door does and explain where it has stopped. Ask about coverage for your Leominster address, the visit fee and whether the provider will give a written estimate before work begins. You do not need to diagnose the failed part yourself.
Keep the provider's name and contact details with any quote or warranty. A recommendation to replace a part should come with a reason, not just a promise that a more expensive option will solve the problem.
